Morocco

The Digital Unify Program is active in Morocco since 2003. Relying on the praiseworthy volunteer work of many ST employees, its activity has been on a steady growth since then.

At present, 20 labs exist in Morocco: seven in Casablanca, two in Rabat and then Kenitra, Taroudant, Rissani, Sidi Moumen, Rachida, Ehajeb, Azrou, Meknes, Sidi Maarouf. Recent additions in 2007 include a new lab in Safi.

The lab was inaugurated in March 2007 and training began in the second week of April 2007. It has been set up in cooperation with the Fondation Orient-Occident.

Morocco ICB

A second new entry is the lab in Marakkech, which resulted from the signature of a convention with the WILAYA of Marakkech in March. Training on site began on April, 16 2007.

Since 2003, the Program has formed over 20.000 trainees being by far the best performing country among those where DU was launched.

The important number of labs entailed relying on external trainers, in addiction with continuous support by the ST - DU Team.

This tight-knit team recently developed a solution which enabled reaching a largest catchment area during summer time: having mobile labs.

Morocco ICB

The ICB course could this way reach unprivileged youngsters living in remote areas of the country, far from the usual labs locations.

The Foundation’s computer literacy course is provided in French and tips and explanations are at times provided by local trainers in Arab.

STMicroelectronics Foundation will soon inaugurate a Liaison Office in Morocco. The Foundation’s direct presence in the field will assure maximization of support and further expansion of DU’s activity.
