Catania Site General Manager
Francesco was born in Milazzo near Messina, Italy in 1955 and graduated with a degree in electronic engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin, Italy.
He started his professional career in the semiconductor industry in 1980 with Texas Instruments, as product engineer for analog circuits. A few years later he joined Thomson Semiconductors with the responsibility of sales for the computer market, and finally in 1986 he was promoted Sales Manager for Italy.
In 1988, after the merger of Thomson Semiconductors with SGS-Ates, who gave life to STMicroelectronics, Francesco decided to move to Catania to take the responsibility of the Power Mosfet Business Unit.
In 2000 he was promoted Group Central Planning Director reporting to the Discrete and Standard Product Group General Manager.
In 2005 he was in charge of Operations and Business Management of IMS ( Industrial & Multisegment Sector), he supervised the central planning, the control of the production activities, the package development and engineering, the Marketing business in the Regions and the Business Units Space & Hi-Rel.
From December 2012 Francesco is General Manager of the ST Catania site.
The ST site of Catania, nearly 4,000 employees, of which 98% with degree or diploma, is one of the main ST’s production and R&D centers. In particular, the site is a key reference point for both discrete and integrated Power Technologies, leveraging on innovation and manufacturing efficiency
