Empowering Ukrainian students: 100 laptops donated for remote learning

On July 19, with the help of BDD Italy, the operational arm of the Foundation in Italy, we donated 100 laptop computers in support of Ukrainian communities. Representatives of the Sovereign Order of Malta and STMicroelectronics attended the ceremony.

The PCs have become an integral part of the broader support activities that the Order of Malta is conducting. The primary focus of the donation is to help the most vulnerable, particularly children and adolescents. The computers will be distributed to Ukrainian educational institutions, starting with several schools in the Lviv region, to enhance access to educational activities for students who often, for safety reasons, need to study remotely and cannot physically attend their schools.

The delivery has been organized by the Order of Malta in the first days of August.

Enrico Riva, both an ST Foundation volunteer and a member of the Order of Malta, has supported the mission.

Reflecting on his experience, Enrico shared his thoughts on the importance of the cause he decided to join:

The spirit of those who choose to serve others voluntarily is encapsulated in a phrase by Peter Marshall, a Scottish man of faith: ‘The measure of life is not its duration but its donation.’ That’s it: a well-spent life is not measured by its length, but by how much one has given. Whether one donates under the banner of the ST Foundation, the Order of Malta, or any other flag or symbol, what truly matters is giving back a part of what God, fortune, destiny, or whatever you believe in, has given us to another human being. For me, operating often in a dual role, I have come to understand how things that may seem superfluous in our daily lives can be of extreme necessity to others. Being able to provide these for people, knowing it will change a part of their lives, enriches my soul and helps me understand what truly matters.
