Maty Diouf is a dynamic 26-year-old from Kounoun, Senegal. Her journey is a testament to the power of education, community, and the transformative role of technology in empowering young individuals, especially women, in today’s digital world.
After attending school in diverse locations in Senegal, she earned her baccalauréat degree from the Lycée de Mbao and pursued higher education at the Virtual University of Senegal (UVS), where she obtained a degree in English.
Currently a national service agent, Maty dedicates her time and efforts to the betterment of her community. Her commitment to social progress doesn’t stop there; she’s also a volunteer at the Centre Départemental de l’Education Populaire (CDEPS), where she attended an Introduction to Computer Basics course. This first encounter with computers, opened up a world of possibilities for her and others as the center provided invaluable training in cybersecurity, cybercrime prevention, and leadership.
The road to success was not without its hurdles. Maty and her peers faced significant challenges due to a lack of study materials and the absence of face-to-face instruction. However, they demonstrated remarkable resilience by forming study groups, which became a cornerstone of their academic support system. Together, they navigated the complexities of exams and tests, validating their hard work and dedication.
Passionate about encouraging girls to delve into the realm of technology, Maty extends her deepest gratitude to the ST Foundation who has made these life-changing educational experiences possible. Their support has not only impacted her life but has also ignited new hope for the future of many young individuals in her community.
Together, we can continue to make a difference.
