In a remarkable collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), we have come together to advance digital literacy in underserved communities across Sierra Leone. This partnership, rooted in a shared commitment to bridging the digital divide, is transforming education and providing local youth and adults with essential digital skills to succeed in today’s world.
The highlight of our efforts is the “Riding for Change” awareness campaign, which energized the Kambia District of Sierra Leone with a unique motorbike rally. This event, which traversed villages and towns across the district, spread the word about digital training opportunities and engaged residents of all ages. As our team shared stories of digital transformation, they inspired local youth and adults to embrace digital literacy as a pathway to new possibilities. The rally underscored our commitment to making digital education accessible, relevant, and engaging for everyone.
Everything started in September with a “Training of Trainers” program in the Kambia District, bringing together passionate educators who are now ready to lead digital literacy classes throughout the region. This program equips 25 trainers with advanced teaching methodologies and digital competencies, positioning them to guide the next generation of learners. With each educator certified, we are building a resilient network of digital ambassadors who will make digital education sustainable and accessible to all.
This training was followed by the inauguration of our 51st Digital Unify computer lab in Freetown, at the Don Bosco Fambul headquarters, in November. This journey with ITU represents more than a partnership—it is a movement towards a digitally inclusive future. Through each program and every engagement, we are building a foundation of knowledge and resilience, empowering communities to embrace technology and creating opportunities for growth and progress. Together with ITU, we are proud to pave the way for a future where digital skills open doors to brighter possibilities for all.
