Ndeye’s dream from self-doubt to leadership, empowered through partnership

Ndeye’s dream from self-doubt to leadership, empowered through partnership
Born in Dakar, Ndeye dreamed of becoming a civil engineer. After two years of university studies, she was forced to stop for family reasons, choosing responsibility and sacrifice over personal ambition.

This interruption marked a difficult period. Confidence faded and the future felt uncertain. A first step forward came through basic computer training at the CDEPS of Rufisque, where she acquired essential digital skills. But the real transformation began later.

Ndeye joined one of our training pathway, in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a collaboration designed not only to build skills but to unlock human potential through digital inclusion and leadership development.

Through this program, Ndeye discovered abilities she did not know she had. Supported by structured training and professional mentoring, she gradually overcame her fear of public speaking, improved her communication skills, and developed self-confidence.

What makes this journey particularly meaningful is our collaboration with ITU: a pathway that connects digital skills, leadership and personal empowerment, especially for young women.

From 2024 to 2025 step by step, Ndeye evolved from a withdrawn and insecure young woman into a confident leader, capable of engaging with others and inspiring her peers.

Today at 25, she looks to the future with a clear mission: to pass on her knowledge to young people aged 14 to 18, helping them understand digital risks, avoid online scams, and use technology responsibly.

Thanks to the ST Foundation and the partnership with ITU, I have become a confident leader, and I am no longer afraid to speak and engage with others. The training helped me believe in myself, express my ideas, and understand my value. Today, I feel ready to support and guide young people, helping them use digital tools safely, responsibly, and with confidence.”
