One of the many strategic partners we have in India is the Navjyoti India Foundation, founded in 1988 to focus on improving the quality of life for marginalized communities. It is a perfect fit for us at the ST Foundation, offering digital knowledge training.
Our friends at the Navjyoti India Foundation recently recognized the many socio-economic challenges faced by the transgender community in India and focused on their limited access to education and employment opportunities. To bridge this gap, we initiated a program together to provide basic computer education to the members of this community in Delhi.

The program aimed to empower participants with essential digital skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) – document and presentation creation, editing, and formatting, basic data entry, analysis, and spreadsheet management, and Internet usage, with basic knowledge of browsing, email communication, and online safety.
Sixty students enrolled and successfully completed the course, showing remarkable enthusiasm and commitment throughout the training (average attendance: 94%, and average assessment result: 62%; numbers we can be proud of).
The feedback we received warmed our hearts: participants expressed confidence in their newly acquired skills, particularly in document preparation and managing data using Excel. They particularly appreciated the ability to access and navigate the Internet, which they considered an opening door to knowledge, networking, and personal growth.
But, most important, many felt included and empowered to explore better employment prospects, particularly in administrative and support roles.

Reinforced by these preliminary results, together with the Navjyoti India Foundation, we are establishing a satellite center at Ashiana Foundation, in eastern part of Delhi an organization dedicated to supporting the transgender community and raising awareness about HIV/AIDS.

It was founded in 1988 by Dr. Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman police officer, along with a group of like-minded professionals. The Foundation aims to uplift marginalized communities through various social development initiatives. Its mission is to mobilize and harness the power of children, youth, and women through educational and empowerment initiatives, with a vision to create a self-reliant society through integrated and sustainable development.
