A dream, a possibility, a future
Yacine Diop lives in Senegal, in the heart of Gueule Tapée, a neighborhood rich in character and hope. Though opportunities may be limited, its human, cultural, and social potential is abundant—and deserves to be nurtured and uplifted.
Yacine herself embodies the very spirit of her community. Her dream, once deemed too ambitious, was to spread digital skills as widely as possible, believing they were essential not just to change her own future, but to transform the destiny of her entire community.
Then came her encounter with us and our Digital Unify program.
When she was given the opportunity to take part in the program, Yacine saw a door open before her. The training she received became a true springboard toward independence.
But what moved her most deeply was the moment she was able to give back what she had received. After completing the course, she was invited to become a trainer herself, becoming the very first digital literacy instructor in her municipality. In the center she opened with our support, she trained mothers who had never had the chance to go to school and students who had never touched a computer. Each face in front of her represented a new opportunity, a new life made possible through digital education.
One day, Ibrahim, one of her students, asked her a question that would change everything:
“Madame, may I keep helping you? May I stay by your side and learn more?”
She didn’t hesitate. In Ibrahim, she recognized the same passion and determination that once fueled her own journey. She gave him the opportunity to become her substitute teacher, to continue his training, and eventually to become a trainer himself. This was a victory not only for both of them but, more importantly, for the community that was learning, growing, and building together.
Our program didn’t just change the course of her life; it created a ripple effect of transformation. With support from the Ministry of Youth, several new training centers were established, each nurturing a new generation equipped to navigate the digital world, gain greater freedom, and shape their own futures.
