Vaishnavi – From Curiosity to confidence

Vaishnavi – From Curiosity to confidence

In the busy neighborhood of Lal Bagh, Azadpur in Delhi, Vaishnavi, a student in the Tablet for Kids program at the Turning Point Foundation Youth Resource Centre, discovered how digital learning could open up her world.

Before joining the course, she already knew a little about smartphones and computers, but she often faced problems — network issues, limited access to devices, and a fear of making mistakes. “I knew phones and computers existed,” she says, “but I didn’t really know how to use them properly.”

When our “Tablet for Kids” course was introduced in her community through the Turning Point Foundation, Vaishnavi decided to join. After the pandemic, when much of life moved online, she realized how essential it was to understand technology — for her studies, communication, and everyday life. Step by step, she learned to use tools like Google Chrome, Wikipedia, Google Translate, and Maps. Tasks that once seemed confusing became part of her daily routine. “Earlier, I found it difficult to search for information. Now I can easily find what I need and even help others.”

Her teacher played a big role in her progress. “My teacher supported me with patience and helped me understand the importance of digital literacy,” she recalls.

The change didn’t go unnoticed. Vaishnavi’s family and friends now turn to her for help with digital tasks such as finding information, translations, and directions online. “My family is proud of me,” she says. “Now I can help them with things I never could before.”

She believes that digital education can change not just individual lives, but entire communities. “This course is very beneficial for women and children,” she explains. “It helps us become independent and self-reliant.”

Vaishnavi’s journey shows that curiosity, when nurtured through opportunity, can lead to confidence and independence — especially for young women ready to shape their digital future.
