The language of machines
“At first, I never imagined that a simple digital literacy course could so profoundly change the way I see the world. And yet, it did.”
This is how a young woman from the Azrou Community Development Center in Morocco, that we’ll call Fatima, begins her story. She enrolled in one of our courses to overcome a very real challenge:
“During my studies, preparing presentations and assignments without knowing how to use digital tools was a major obstacle.” It was this need, combined with a growing curiosity to explore an increasingly essential world, that motivated her to sign up for the course.
“Exploring the digital world became a necessity for me.” In her environment, access to computers and smartphones is fairly common, but knowing how to use software effectively for work, study, and communication makes all the difference.
“Our teacher constantly encouraged us, and that support really pushed me to build my skills.” By the end of the course, she was already applying what she had learned in her professional life: “Now, I can present lessons to students and prepare evaluation grids. Without these skills, everything would be more difficult. Digital literacy is essential today to access new job opportunities in Morocco.”
But the impact went beyond just Fatima’s career. “I also started using technology to stay in touch with my family and friends living in other parts of Morocco and abroad. I feel more connected, more independent.” She is convinced of the value of this knowledge: “Trust me, this is the kind of resource that equips you to take on new challenges, right away. Digital tools can simplify so many things in everyday life, which is why I’ll keep studying, both in person and online.”
And there’s more: “I realized that machines have a language too. And once you understand it, the world becomes a lot easier to navigate.” Her family is proud of how far she’s come: “They’re proud of what I’ve achieved thanks to this training.”
And her message to anyone still hesitating? “I encourage everyone to take the courses offered by the ST Foundation—they give you the foundation you need.”

Established in 2002 by Al Akhawayn University following a donation from Saudi Prince Abdelaziz Iben Fahd, the Centre dʼAzrou pour le Développement Communautaire (CADC) is a socially-oriented institution that reports to Al Akhawayn University and therefore seeks sponsorship and partnership to fund its various projects. Its mission is to contribute, within an ethical, creative, and productive environment, to improving the socio-economic living conditions of the population in the province of Ifrane and the Middle Atlas through socio-educational, professional, and medical programs.
