ST Foundation talks: meet Emmanuelle Luce, our Country Manager in France
Welcome to the seventh edition of ST Foundation Talks, a series connecting you with the inspiring individuals leading ST Foundation initiatives around the world. In this series, we interview our dedicated Country Managers to learn more about their journeys, challenges, and the positive impact they are making in their communities. This time, we interview Emmanuelle, our Country Manager for France.

Could you briefly introduce yourself and what led you to become Country Manager for the ST Foundation in France?
Right after graduating from an engineering school in Grenoble, I joined STMicroelectronics in Crolles in 1997. I started in a technical role, then spent about 15 years in Human Resources. In 2019, I became Sustainability Champion for the Crolles site, helping to roll out ST’s sustainability strategy locally, including the STEM initiatives and the launch of ST’s volunteering platform in 2024.

I’m motivated by helping people grow and building a positive impact, whether inside ST or in the broader community. So when the position of Country Manager for France opened, it felt like the perfect next step. I didn’t hesitate to apply, and I’m very proud to represent ST and its Foundation in France since February 2025.

What does your role as Country Manager for the ST Foundation in France involve on a daily basis?
My role is to connect and facilitate between the ST Foundation, ST management, and our French sites so our actions match local needs. I coordinate our Introduction to Computer Basics (ICB) courses and Digital Unify labs, support partners so trainings fit their beneficiaries, and manage donations of PCs and smartphones from French sites to give unused equipment a second life with NGOs, schools, and vulnerable people.

I also build and nurture partnerships with associations and social actors across France, identify and follow up on projects, and communicate about our actions to raise awareness, engage colleagues, and increase the Foundation’s visibility.

On a personal level, what touches you the most in the work you do for the ST Foundation?
For me, the most rewarding part is seeing the real human impact of what we do, in the smiles, bright eyes, and genuine gratitude of the people we support and our NGO partners.

When we help underserved communities access digital tools with both equipment and guidance, we’re doing much more than teaching computer skills: we’re making daily life easier, increasing independence, and helping them find their place in a digital world.

Is there a particular encounter that has especially marked your work?
One moment that really stayed with me was a visit to an NGO in Isère that supports children and adults with intellectual disabilities, through specialized schools, care centers, and adapted workplaces where adults can have meaningful jobs and daily support.

Their mix of fragility and strength made the importance of this work very tangible, and I left humbled and energized, eager to build a project together and support this kind of impact with the ST Foundation.

Do you have a personal philosophy that guides you when things get tough?
What keeps me going is the very concrete impact on people’s lives. Since 2021, we estimate that more than 20,000 people in France have benefited from our equipment donations.

When I hear that a student can enter vocational high school thanks to an ICB course, or that someone in a difficult situation can do administrative procedures thanks to a donated smartphone and some training, it gives real meaning to my work.

Looking ahead, how would you like the ST Foundation in France to grow and be recognized?
I see the Foundation’s work in France continuing to grow, building on what we’ve achieved and moving towards a more structured, strategic approach in closer collaboration with ST.

My ambition is to be clearly recognized as a trusted partner for digital inclusion, with strong NGO partnerships, active involvement from ST employees, and projects that help people gain autonomy in an increasingly digital world.

Outside of work, how do you look after yourself and recharge?
Following some health issues, I’m gradually returning to physical activity and practicing well-being techniques like Laughter Yoga to help me relax. I hope I’ll soon be able to dance again, because I’m truly passionate about partner dances.
