Inspiring digital futures: Renato Sirtori’s visit to Malaysia

Inspiring digital futures: Renato Sirtori’s visit to Malaysia

On 30 March 2026, Renato Sirtori, Board Member of ST Foundation and responsible for Asia operations, visited STMicroelectronics Muar and the Muar Education Department in Malaysia. He was accompanied by Kamaldeep Jain, ST Foundation Asia Manager, as well as Norazah Wahab, Malaysia Country Manager, and Nurnazreen Yahya, Malaysia Coordinator.

The visit gave Renato the opportunity to see firsthand how the Digital Unify (DU) Program is helping expand access to basic digital education, and to explore how ST Foundation can do even more to support local communities. Malaysia is an important country for the ST Foundation in Asia, with a strong education network, committed partners, and many students who can benefit from digital inclusion initiatives.

During the visit, Renato met with the local DU team, school leaders, and education authorities to review progress on the ground and discuss the next phase of the program. His focus was on strengthening coordination, expanding the program’s reach, and sharing best practices from other countries to help the Malaysian team build on what is already working.

The visit also highlighted the essential role of local partners. By engaging with schools in Muar and Tangkak, and recognizing stakeholders, the team reinforced a message at the heart of ST Foundation’s work: digital inclusion is only possible through collaboration. Teachers, school leaders, local authorities, and volunteers all play a vital role in bringing these opportunities to life.

As Renato said during the visit:

“At ST Foundation, our goal is to bridge the digital divide and give back to society. Programs like Digital Unify only succeed when we work hand in hand with schools, local authorities, and partners to build strong digital skills for the next generation.”

He also reminded the group that ST Foundation was created 23 years ago with a simple but powerful mission: to use technology and knowledge to support communities that risk being left behind. In 2025, ST Foundation positively impacted 150,000 students worldwide through programs such as Tablet 4 Kids, Introduction to Computer Basics, Tablet 4 Seniors, STM32 Coding, and others.

Renato’s visit was not about ceremonies or protocol, but about listening, aligning, and encouraging the team to go further. It left the local group with renewed energy, clearer priorities, and a strong reminder of ST Foundation’s long-term commitment to making technology and education accessible for all.
