Fatima Harouchi – A new start at 63 through digital skills
At 63, Fatima Harouchi embodies the determination of those who refuse to let barriers hold them back. Manager of a small guesthouse in the village of Ait Amer Ou Ali, near Azrou in Morocco, she knew that digital tools had become essential. Yet for her, computers felt distant and intimidating. “Before this training, I struggled to use a computer and to search online,” she admits.
Determined move forward, Fatima enrolled in our “Introduction to Computer Basics (ICB)” computer course at the Azrou Center. “I decided to take this training,” she says firmly, recognizing it as a decisive step.
Session after session, her perspective shifted. She learned to use Word and Excel to complete tasks she once thought were beyond her. “After this training, I was able to do complete tasks and conduct research with my children using Word, Excel, and the internet,” she explains proudly.
The transformation extended to her work: Fatima now records her guesthouse clients’ data, files declarations online, and manages her business more efficiently. “Thanks to this training, I can register my clients’ information and declare it online,” she says with satisfaction.
But beyond the professional impact, digital skills enriched her personal life. “These skills make communication with my relatives easier,” she adds with a smile.
Her message is clear: it is never too late to learn. “I want to thank the ST Foundation and the trainers for this initiative,” she concludes. Fatima’s story is living proof that digital literacy can open doors at any stage of life, bringing independence, connection, and renewed confidence.
