Mapua Malayan Colleges in the Philippines codes with the STM32 Starter Kit
Mapua Malayan Colleges Laguna (MMCL) proudly announces its collaboration with us in launching the STM32 Starter Kit Coding Program, a flagship project under our Digital Unify initiative.
The launch event on May 26th featured a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement by the College’s Assistant Vice-President, symbolizing our shared commitment to advancing technology education.
As part of our unique approach, this was a train-the-trainer program designed to amplify the impact of digital education beyond the reach of our Foundation. It took place in June, during which 13 professors were trained by our volunteers at the ST Calamba premises, using the STM32 Starter Kit and covering topics such as:
- STM32L4 Nucleo board: Learning about the main components and what they can do
- Different types of ports: Exploring the various communication interfaces and how they work
- VittaScience programming interface: An easy-to-use platform that makes coding simpler
- Firmware installation: Step-by-step help with setting up and managing the device’s software
- Sensors & actuators: How to connect sensors and actuators to build interactive projects
- Hands-on activities: Practical exercises using the VittaScience kit to apply what was learned
The program is designed not only to teach coding but to inspire empowerment through hands-on learning. By leveraging the STM32 Starter Kit, students gain practical experience working with embedded systems, enabling them to develop real-world applications that bring technology to life in meaningful ways. Beyond the classroom, this initiative extends its impact to local communities through service learning and community projects organized by partner schools.
As expressed by Maribelle Dequilla-Nicerio, Program Chair of the Computer Engineering program at Mapua Malayan Colleges Laguna, “the collaboration with the ST Foundation represents more than just an educational program—it is a movement toward nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and innovation. The STM32 platform encourages both educators and learners to bridge theory with practice, equipping students with the skills necessary to address real-world challenges”.

It reaffirms the institution’s commitment to bridging the digital divide by providing access to industry-relevant, cutting-edge technology and learning resources. Our Digital Unify initiative reflects the belief that technology should be a tool for inclusion, inspiration, and lasting positive impact on society.
