Yash Kumar, a 20-year-old from Najafgarh, New Delhi, grew up in a family of six, where his father ran a small shop and his mother managed the household. Despite financial struggles, Yash was determined to support his family and provide a better future for his younger brother.
In July 2024, Yash joined the multi-cuisine cook training and was also offered an Informatics Computer Basics (ICB) course by the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation in partnership with us. Over 90 days, Yash mastered essential digital skills such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, which complemented his culinary training by enhancing his ability to manage kitchen operations, maintain records, and communicate effectively, skills increasingly valued in today’s job market. His dedication and performance stood out—he excelled in assessments, practicals, and even completed an On-the-Job Training (OJT) stint at Haldiram Foods Pvt. Ltd. in Najafgarh.
Yash’s combined culinary expertise and digital proficiency helped him secure a job at Hotel Blue Sapphire in Dera Bassi, Punjab.
This financial independence has transformed his life—he now supports his family, contributes to his brother’s education, and leads a happy, fulfilling life. Yash is grateful for the opportunity offered, which empowered him with the skills to succeed.
Yash’s experience shows how digital education can amplify its impact on people and their families. We are proud of our collaboration with GMR Foundation – demonstrating how multinational companies, joining forces through their own foundations, can make a difference in the world they live and operate.
